Spread and unglazed ring foot supports low, wide belly that contracts gently to a short and outwardly-bowed neck, flanked by two scrolling handles, glazed entirely in a deep shade of aubergine purple-blue glaze, accompanied by two covers, an octagonal tin openwork grid, the other of wood and reticulated with floral scrolls, capped by a carved lingzhi handle, accompanied also by a wooden stand resting on ruyi cloud heads

Yang Opera, originally called Weiyang Opera and popularly known as Yangzhou Opera, is one of the local operas in Jiangsu Province. The opera, popular in northern Jiangsu Province, areas south of the Yangtze River, Shanghai and Anhui Province, is based on the traditional "flower drum opera" and "xianghuo
